spicy dishes, fine
seafood, piquant curries and tasty
noodles. Thai dishes
can be a carnival of flavours on one
plate, with exotic
notes of lemongrass and chilli,
coriander, ginger,
tamarind, coconut and fresh lime. If

Bangkok has a first-rate
cooking school for the enthusiast,

Thai silk is widely
considered the best, and is used by
tailors in the country
and around the world. In Chiang Mai
many shops, and
the popular night market, sell
handicrafts. Of course there
is a huge street trade in designer
copies worth looking out
for in all markets – some are of
notably good quality.
