We all love a bit of luxury from time to time. So what better way to get to your holiday destination than by arriving in style. Enjoy a more comfortable journey on an Economy budget and see if you can bag yourself a Business or First Class seat.
The travel experts at Holidays Please have put together their top 5 tips on how you can increase your chances of getting that dream seat to your destination. Good luck!
1 Join the club- You can increase your chances of an upgrade by simply signing up for the airline’s loyalty card before you fly. As a loyal customer you are more likely to be prioritised by airline staff therefore be more suitable for an upgrade.
2. Dress to impress- Airline staff are more likely to give you an upgrade if you are dressed the part. This doesn’t mean you have to wear a suit and tie! But looking clean, tidy and presentable like a First Class passenger will go a long way.
3. A smile goes a long way- Don’t ask the check-in staff outright for a free upgrade, no doubt every other passenger will be asking the same thing. Instead try a more subtle approach such as being nice to them and smiling. They can then add a note on the passenger list to the on-board staff like “nice passenger if you need an upgrade,” which will increase your odds.
4. Good things come to those who wait- An overbooked flight can increase your chances too. Try checking in late if you know you’re on a busy flight so that if there aren’t any Economy seats left then you may get an upgrade. Alternatively check-in staff may ask you to take a later flight and as compensation offer you a Business Class seat.
5. Happy Holidays- If you are going on your honeymoon, getting married, having a birthday or other celebration, then let the check-in staff know. They will be more willing to upgrade you and make your special event more memorable. Remember they are more likely to upgrade two people rather than a whole party, so don’t expect an upgrade for everyone!
