The tallest waterfall in the Iguazu Falls complex is called Devil’s Throat. Shaped like a semi-circle, it stands at 82 meters high and 150 meters wide. If you thought that was impressive, it also runs a whopping 700 meters long. A permanent mist surrounds the Devil’s Throat area. Film buffs may have seen the magnificent Iguazu cascades onscreen in “The Mission”, starring Robert DeNiro. However, a film doesn’t do it justice. You have to see it and hear it in real life to believe this kind of beauty exists.

For those wanting to get up close and personal with Devil’s Throat, you can take a boat out into the frothy waters and get considerably near to the spectacle. This ride is great fun and allows you to properly sense the power of the water as it falls all around you. A full change of clothes is recommended for everyone taking part. You’ll experience an open-air shower like never before!

There is also a tremendous lookout balcony that allows you an excellent view of Devil’s Throat. Most of the journey is done by the Jungle Train, which drops you right at Devil’s Throat Station. The short trail after the train ride is steady and appropriate for anyone seeking an awe-inspiring view. The trail is open to the public until 5pm, so there is plenty of time to enjoy this delightful walk.
