Northeast Coast

The northeast coast of Brazil is sometimes regarded as the most beautiful coastline in the whole of South America. There are many different cities all along the coast, including Recife, Fortaleza, São Luís, Olinda, Natal and Maceió. Each city has its own vibe and signature beach.

There are a few notable places to pay a visit. Fortaleza is a seafood-lovers dream. This place is a major exporter of lobster and there are loads of ocean-front restaurants offering fresh shrimp and crab. You can also check out the MAC, which is Fortaleza’s Museum of Contemporary Art. Another attraction worth a visit is the Teatro José de Alencar, which is a statue that was imported in 1910 from Britain.

Pipa is a popular location to visit with its hip and young vibe. Next to the city of Natal, Pipa Beach is one of Brazil’s most famous beaches. It’s a great place to spot dolphins or just simply lie in the sun. The nightlife is also a big attraction and visitors can enjoy great entertainment during the evenings.

If you’re looking for Brazil’s signature northeastern beach, look no further than Jericoacoara. Back in 2002, this spot was declared a national park. This beach is small and friendly. Originally a fishing village, it remains close to its humble roots, but has also adapted to the influx of visitors. There are now lovely hotels and great restaurants nearby. The natural beauty of the scenery is what shines in Jericoacoara. There are no cars or electricity, but the dunes, blue skies and glistening sea are breathtaking.

Sao Luis offers a great mix of interesting culture and history. The two-story, brightly tiled households are a signature trait of this capital of state. The sloping and narrow roads are also a key feature.

Lençóis Marahenses National Park is another must-see whilst on the northeast coast. The sand dunes and lagoons are a phenomenal sight.
