“Only saw parts of Siem Reap and the fantastic Angkor Wat complex so difficult to provide a broad view. Had a wonderful tuk tuk driver who was very friendly, always punctual and a very good careful driver. Angkor Wat itself was everything I'd hoped for and more. Stunning scenery, interesting history but lots of very scary uneven steep steps up the temple structure (about 1 in 3 in places that would not be allowed in the Uk). Our local guide found by our hotel was very knowledgeable but seemed hung up on the fact that centuries ago Vietnam took a good deal of land away from Cambodia. He told us this repeatedly and felt hard done by without a good word for the Vietnamese. This detracted from the information he gave us about Angkor Wat. Unfortunately we had to guide ourselves round a number of temples on our first full day as the hotel had not responded to our earlier email requesting a local guide. ”
