We could call it the most stunning cave network on Earth with vibrant hues of blue and grey marbling through the stone reflected from the azure colour of the surrounding lake.

Formed by over 6,000 years of wave action these amazing caves stand prominently in the deep blue water of Lake General Carrera.

The reason behind the blue water, which reflects onto these caves, is from the rivers that feed Lake General Carrera. The rivers flow from many glaciers in the Patagonia, carrying small particles that reflect the unusual colour blue.

Not easily accessible, located in the southern tip of Chile, tourists must fly from the capital Santiago to Coyhaique followed by a 200 mile drive south to the lakes. Once arriving south, a boat trip must be taken to view these marvellous caves.
