The Galapagos Islands

The Galapagos Islands are an isolated group of volcanic islands belonging to Ecuador in the Pacific Ocean.

They are one of the only places left in the world where humans are kept to a minimum. The Galapagos Marine Reserve is filled with wildlife extending from marine mammals to corals.

These islands are not your classic tropical beach island; they each showcase their own distinctive landscape. Some islands are completely barren looking similar to the moons with layers of volcanic rock, whilst other are covered in glistening white sand that melts into the surrounding azure waters.

Unique Wildlife

These mystical islands may just make you feel differently about the world. Many of the creatures that reside on the islands are not found anywhere else in the world. Thanks to the lack of predators, the only disturbance to the wildlife is humans, who are widely ignored by animals.

The archipelago of 19 islands and plenty of smaller islets are double World Heritage sites, both protecting the land and sea.
