"Where we stayed was nice, the only problem was when we arrived and thay took our luggage to an annexe five minutes or so from the main hotel, this was not acceptable, the room was very poor, and had single beds. I had phoned Your company to make sure we were in the main hotel and mentioned we were going to celbrate our Anniversary, Thomas Cook said they knew nothing about this and nor the hotel. "The conplex was clean and tidy although the first room we had was small and dark The restaurant however was definatly not 5 star The food was sloppy tasteless and hygine was below standard The booking at the 4 other restaurants on site was not easy I was so disgusted that I puchased tickets after 1 week and my husband and I came home early. "Fantastic hotel (Sharks Bay Hilton) which had its own pontoon into the sea. Excellent diving with the Red Sea Dive Co. Because it was out of the high season, the hotel and the boats were not crowded, making for a more enjoyable experience. "We also satyed in the Movenpick El Gouna Resort which again did not seem like a 5 star hotel. The bars lacked any atmosphere, the rooms were quite basic and the decor dated. The food was good for breakfast but average for lunch. We went to El Gouna each night for our evening meal because of this which had some great restaurants. The great things we saw more than made up for any disappointments with our hotels and we had a wonderful holiday. "The people in Egypt are wonderful, I cannot fault their hospitality. However, unless you like diving (which we tried but didn't like) there is very little else to do. We visited Cairo, which was very smoggy and congested leading to my daughter being sick all day.
