"We love this country - the second time we've been. The people are so friendly and we've come away with several new friends. The scenery is gorgeous and even being near the airport didn't bother us or ruin the hotel. Dunns River was an amazing experience only marred by the fact that we got caught by the locals trying to sell their wares on the way out, they try to offer you what they call gifts and engrave your name on wooden crafts which make you feel that you have to buy them even if you don't want them. "It was nice to see Jamaican people working in the industry. We took a tour to a crocodile safari and in sodoing we rode on a bus through the countryside. This is a lush green Island with rich and poor living alongside each other, literally! A massive well designed recent development with a basic wooden hut residence next door! The crime rate is high in places but as long as you keep in resort and play safe you should not experince anything untoward. We were offered illicit drugs as we lay on the beach on one occasion we simply passed it off. Driving - we had a bit of white knuckle drive to the airport by a hotel employee, not for the faint hearted but somehow he got us there in one piece...." rating 9/10, 28th Apr 2009, Philip W

"The hotel (Sandals Ocho Rios) was spectacular, as all Sandals resorts that I have visited are. However, as an island Jamaica isn't as pleasant as the other Caribbean islands. In terms of its landscape and beaches it is stunning, it's just the people are not friendly, you don't feel particularly safe (armed police everywhere puts you somewhat on edge) and everyone is out to make money out of you to an even greater extent than the other islands. Even the coach drivers openly ask you for money - a hint you can deal with, a blatant "can I have some money for doing my job please" is a little rude!
