The Inca trail is South America's most popular trek. Not only is completing the trail a great workout, but the views along the way are incredible as well.

It’s quite an intense hike, so this trail is best suited to those with a good level of fitness. It is recommended to undergo an acclimation period in Cusco to prepare you for the altitude changes.

Your journey on the Inca trail will take you north from Cusco and you’ll go through the Sacred Valley, which eventually leads you to the magnificent lost city of Machu Piccu. Your trail finishes up in a remarkable fashion as you are treated to tremendous views. It’s definitely worth the effort of the climb!

The highest point of the trek reaches a whopping 4,200 meters above sea level, which is why the views are so incredible. Everything looks so small from that height! Take in all the stunning Andean scenery and enjoy the peaceful ambience.

Along the route you have the option to camp in tents to break up the hike. This is a good way to get some rest and recharge the batteries, so you’re fresh for the next phase of the walk.

The best time to walk the Inca trail is between the dry months of May to September.
