As a holiday destination that is exotic, full of potential adventure and yet readily accessible to the modern traveller, few faraway places hold the promise of Africa’s smallest sovereign state (by population). The map reveals no fewer than 115 coral and granite islands studding the Indian Ocean, 1,800 km to the east of Kenya in mainland Africa, make up the amazing archipelago nation that is Republic of Seychelles.

This beautiful corner of the earth offers the alluring spectacle of empty white sand beaches and the chance to discover a personal oasis in nature’s tropical playground.

A major attraction of the Seychelles Islands is the opportunity to experience more than one island during a single holiday. Each island is unique in character and ambience, most within easy travelling distance of one another. Light aircraft is the usual mode of transport, more often than not from Mahe, the largest and one of the most northerly of the Seychelles.

Around 60% of visitors to the islands are from Europe, attracted not only by the gorgeous climate and stunning “Robinson Crusoe” environment, but also by the Seychelles’ reputation as a haven for wildlife.

Bird Island, for example, is just one of the many activity destinations for birdwatchers, while Silhouette Island, the third largest of the Seychelles, is famous for its other visitors - giant tortoises and hawksbill turtles.
