Los Angeles is one of those places that seem strangely familiar even if it's your first visit. You have seen those tall palm trees across the perfectly clear blue sky and the huge white "Hollywood" sign on the shrubby hillside, a thousand times before. You won't feel like you are at a destination abroad!
Every neighborhood in Los Angeles has its own diverse character, from the exclusive mansions of Beverly Hills to the street energy of Venice.

A Los Angeles "must see" is Rodeo Drive. A walk will take you past numerous designer stores including Armani, Gucci and Coco Chanel. Rodeo drive is also home to probably the world's most expensive store, Bijan, where you can't even get in the door without an appointment. The average customer spends an incredible $100,000!
Los Angeles has a less well known claim to fame of being one of very few places where you can go snowboarding, surfing and sunbathing in the same day.

Only around 80 miles from LA are the snow mountains near big bear lake. This means you can surf on water in the morning and then on its frozen cousin in the afternoon! If you want to just stay on the beach and sunbathe then Venice Beach is great fun. For the unfamiliar it's a flamboyant sidewalk scene of bikini-clad rollerbladers, artists, street performers, body builders and sometimes even belly dancers.
Then as evenining draws in, LA comes alive.

When the stars come out, you can go clubbing in Hollywood, listen to blues on the beach, talk to beautiful people in cool bars, and really feel the glamour and glitz of Los Angeles - it's not called Tinseltown for nothing!
