Barbados Holidays
The weather in Barbados is mostly sunny and warm year-round, with an average of high daytime temperatures of 75° to 85°F (24° to 29°C) and slightly cooler nights.
The prevailing northeast trade winds blow steadily, so that although it is bright and sunny, it is not unbearably hot. There is a dry season from January to June, while rain usually comes in quick, refreshing showers.
So with weather like this, it is natural to slip into a relaxed, outdoor punctuated by adventures in and around the sea – bearing in mind that Barbadians complain that the sea is cold when it is under 75 Barbados’ east and north coasts face the Atlantic Ocean where huge waves crash along the shore and coral reefs. While the strong currents here prevent safe swimming – except in a few protected bays – this area offers spectacular scenery with a rugged coastline and wild seas.
In contrast, the south coast’s gentle waves are ideal for body surfing and simply enjoying being in the water. There are still rollers for surfing with buggy boards and surfboards – and some of the best windsurfing in the world – with annual surfing competitions and international surfing meets held on the island’s south and east coasts.
