Mauritius Holiday Information
Few holiday destinations abroad offer such pleasant weather conditions as the island nation of Mauritius. The average temperature is 27° C during the day and rarely drops below 20°C at night throughout the year – pleasant weather, indeed! There are two seasons: November to April is designated “hot” and from May to October is “warm”.
The local climate is tropical, with the hot season tending to be wetter and more humid and the warm season, dryer – both made comfortable by the southeast trade winds. For the visitor, beach and casual wear are the norm; in the winter months – June to September – bring some light woollen clothing for the cooler evenings.
For anyone who enjoys the sea or just soaking up the sun, Mauritius is a paradise destination. Take the sheer diversity of its beaches: Grand Bay offers superb sailing, windsurfing and water-skiing, for example – and is also the place where Mauritians themselves head to when they want a fun-filled night out.
The remarkable small cove of Pereybere is one of the finest bathing spots on the island, augmented by an array of excellent restaurants, bars and shops. Belle Mare, as the name suggests offers many kilometres of white, spotless beaches, while surfers often head for the beaches at Le Morne and Tamarin.
