For those of us facing grey skies and the likelihood of cold drizzle, it is good to know that an accessible but still unspoilt holiday destination exists – the Turks & Caicos Islands (TCI) – that averages no less than 350 sunny days every year.

The weather in the TCI is usually dry as well as sunny, making the islands an ideal setting for simply relaxing in the sand. The easternmost islands get the least rain, with only 21 inches of rainfall per year on Grand Turk and South Caicos – so it’s almost always a great day for the beach.

With such abundant sunshine, of course, be sure to protect yourself from harmful rays with sunblock, light, layered clothing and hats.

From November to May, temperatures average between 80 and 84 F (27 to 29 C).  In the summer months - April through to October - temperatures will average as high as 90 F, with highs into the mid-90s F in the later months. The sea remains approximately five degrees cooler year-round. Although this might sound a little warm, the trade winds are constant and have a cooling effect.

June to October is the hurricane season when islands are on the lookout for storms – the warning systems are increasingly sophisticated and know what is happening throughout the region. However, the storms are not generally a problem - the Caribbean region is larger than it seems and storms rarely hit any of the islands directly. They are more likely to be brushed by outer bands of the storm. With few exceptions it is safe to say the forecast for the Turks and Caicos will be bright and sunny!
