Pangkor Laut

Pangkor Laut

Pangkor Laut is a 300-acre privately-owned island off the west coast of Malaysia in the Straits of Malacca. It is the exotic location of the internationally acclaimed Pangkor Laut Resort. For full details please place an enquiry on the right hand side of the page.

It has 148 Malaysian-style villas and suites, plus eight “estates”  - designed for honeymoon seclusion or private family holiday, blending in with the surrounding natural environment. And what an environment! The majority of the island is deliberately undeveloped and remains covered in lush, unspoiled two-million-year-old rainforest leading to amazing beaches and all surrounded by an emerald sea.

Guests have access to two swimming pools, a jet pool and cold dip, a gymnasium, three tennis courts, two squash courts and spa (with all kinds of massage and other treatments), Internet access to the rooms (notice in advance) and a library. The resort also has a resident naturalist who you can accompany through the rainforest on his daily trek. The Spa Village, in particular has been widely praised for its facilities and service (voted #1 in the world by Condé Nast Traveller [October 2003 issue]) and the resort continues consistently to rank high on the itinerary of international pleasure seekers.

Minutes away is Emerald Bay - considered by independent travel consultants as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world – providing an exotic and beautiful location for weddings and dinner banquets. It is literally, your own private bay for your special event.

One traveller’s report in March 2008 said: “We stayed at Pangkor Laut for five days – we had a wonderfully relaxing stay and were well looked after. We stayed in a garden villa which was clean and well maintained. Try out the spa bath in your villa. You can go out for a meal at one of the several fantastic restaurants and when you return a member of staff has filled your outside bath with sublime potions and decorated the whole area with petals. Very romantic! We loved lounging by and swimming at the infinity pool with the attentive staff bringing over fresh towels, fruit kebabs and glasses of water.”

Another describing the resort said: “This is not a five star pristine slick corporate hotel operation, but what you get is a beautiful relaxed island with attentive staff, views, climate, nature and spa treatments to die for.”

Reaching Pangkor Laut is straightforward - Malaysia Airlines operates flights from major destinations worldwide to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Sepang. From there, either transfer to the resort in a private car via the coastal town of Lumut, or take an internal flight on Berjaya Air from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang to Pangkor Airport, where resort staff meet you for transfer by boat to the resort itself.
