Maafushivaru - "What a Beautiful Island!!!”

I recently spent some time at Maayfushivaru and wasn’t sure what to expect as it has just been taken over by Kuoni and upgraded.
I couldn’t have been more pleased, we were greeted at the seaplane terminal at Male with drinks and a cool towel before being shown a safety video.
The 25 minute flight was a great chance to see the Island as you approached it; we then had a 5 minute Dhoni boat to the Resort jetty where we were greeted by the resort Management and some of the other staff. Check in is so relaxed and done over a complimentary drink.
My room was a Water Villa with floor to ceiling windows so great views over the ocean, they had an outdoor deck with 2 sun beds with lovely padded mattresses, the bathroom has a bath with a massive window looking out over the ocean and the separate shower also had a full length glass door which opens out onto the deck.

I did have a look at the Beach Villas which were really nice and a little larger with an outdoor shower; they have direct access to the beach so are great for an early morning swim. There are 2 Deluxe beach villas with a shared pool so are ideal for families or friends.
The Main Restaurant is open sided and very airy with lots of choice of meals, there is also the option of Private dining, Candle-lit dining and even dinner on a private Island so you will never get bored with the fabulous food.
There is an open air Lounge/Bar area with sand floor so real no news/no shoes feeling, they have a fantastic choice of cocktails included on the All Inclusive menu which is great value starting at only £19.00 extra each night. There is going to be a web-cam set up just off the jetty which will project onto the white wall behind the Bar giving wonderful views of the surrounding sea life.
I have visited many of the Islands in the Maldives but I do feel that this resort has something special, the beach is beautiful with soft sand, it only has 50 rooms so there is lots of open space and the snorkelling is very good.
For those that don’t like swimming in the sea there is a lovely infinity pool with wide steps leading into it and tiny twinkling lights in the evening.
It really is what the Maldives should be!!!!!
