The history of the Classical Gardens of Suzhou can be traced back to 6 BC. The time of the Ming and Qing dynasties, Suzhou City had become a garden city with more than 200 gardens.

Because of their beautiful man-made landscape and the idea of harmony between heaven and human beings, the gardens have gained an unrivalled reputation worldwide.

A must when going to see the gardens, are the majestic temples of Xuanmiao Taoist Temple (Temple of Mystery) and West Garden Temple. The gardens have many delights but we recommend taking a trip to Panmen Scenic Area, located to the southwest of Suzhou City.
