Patagonia Walking Holidays

Shared by Chile and Argentina, Patagonia has a naturally rugged beauty. A trek through the wilderness is the best way to discover every inch of this wonderful region. Argentine Patagonia contains some of the best national parks in South America for walking and hiking. You will experience stunning mountainous scenery and breathtaking views of different shaped glaciers.

Argentine Patagonia is a wild, barren and beautiful part of the world home of pristine rivers and jagged peaks. For jaw-dropping scenery go hiking in the Parque Nacional Los Glaciares.

The most famous route for a trek in Patagonia is the “W Trek” in Torres del Paine. In 4-5 days, you’ll pass through the main parts of the national park, which include Lago Grey, the granite towers and the hanging glacier in the Valle Frances. Independent hikers are best to take this route due to it being well-populated with clear directions. On the “W Trek”, there are opportunities to kayak, horse ride and mountain bike. Ice hiking is also an option.

To access Patagonia’s most inspirational views, a “Hut to Hut Hike” is one of the best treks available. This kind of hike allows you to go deeper into the nooks of Andes by stopping off along the way. There are mountain huts dotted across the route to allow some shut eye.

There are of course other options if hiking isn’t your strong suit. There is a selection of easier trails scattered around Patagonia. Take in the scenery at your own pace.

Visit the serene waters of Laguna Capri; see turquoise lakes and sprawling glaciers unlike anything you have seen before.

With a number of small hills around the lake it’s the perfect place to get different photographic vantage points of the area.

For horse riding visit Estancia Menelik, a working ranch built in 1920 for horse rides for a stunning panorama of Parque Nacional Perito Moreno.
