Manus is a great place to start for wildlife enthusiasts, tours begin from here to the Amazon rainforest. Take a riverboat down the Amazon River into the depths of the jungle.

Take in the sites of birds, monkeys and exotic vegetation. If you’re feeling adventurous take a midnight canoe ride in search of alligators and nocturnal creatures.

If you are in need of some relaxation stop for an afternoon at the white sand beaches of Rio Negro and sample some traditional Amazonian barbeque. This is a great place to learn some survival skills, take a trek through the jungle and learn how to identify medicinal herbs. Build a hut and learn how to obtain water and food.

Pantanal is one of the best places in Brazil for spotting wildlife; Pantanal is home to the world’s largest wetlands, around 210,000 sq. km. The Pantanal is home to very few people and no towns so is mainly accessible by small airplanes and motorboats.

Many animals can be spotted here such as monkeys, macaws, ibis, cormorants, otters, capybaras, alligators, parrots, toucans and even the elusive Jaguar. Take a boat trip at dusk and watch the spectacular sunset over a traditional Pantanal dinner.

If you still want the Wildlife element in your holiday but don’t fancy staying a lengthy period in the jungle, why not stay in Rio de Janeiro and visit Tijuca National Park, the world’s biggest urban forest. Howler monkeys, ocelots and a stunning array of birds inhabit the park, perfect for birdwatching and eating a picnic by the waterfalls.

In the evening there is a stunning view of the sun setting over Rio de Janeiro. To explore the sea and jungle take a ferry to Ilha Grande an island off Rio for a few days. Relax on secluded beaches, go snorkelling in the clear waters and spot a vast array of tropical fish. Swim with sea turtles or go exploring in the jungle.
