El Tatio is an active geysers field within the Andes Mountain, in northern Chile. With over 80 lively geysers making it the largest geyser field in the southern hemisphere, it attracts interested tourists keen to see the energetic geysers.

Geysers are formed by hot springs intermittently boiling creating a column of water to spurt through a vent in the earth’s surface.

The El Tatio field is surrounded by dormant volcanoes creating a circular stage for these performing steam plumes.

Located 4,200 metres above sea level, the gurgling geyser and gas-emitting fumaroles are superbly active creating wonderful viewing for tourists.

Rising before dawn to see these spectacular geysers is highly recommend, as the sun rises the columns of steam condense in the cool air creating a marvellous demonstration for on looking spectators.

You can join the early morning tour from San Pedro de Atacama to visit this field of geothermal activity. With your designated local guide, you will arrive at dawn just as the hot steam is creating a mystical show with the cold morning air.

After taking in the majestic display you can visit and take a plunge into one of the wonderful hot springs selected carefully by your knowledgeable tour guide.
