The Ecuadorian Amazon is mainly tropical rainforest elevated over 400m above sea level. More life buzzes here than anywhere else on Earth. The rainforest contains more than twenty percent of the world’s plant species as well as wonderful animals that would absolutely amaze anyone.

As well as the Galapagos Islands, the Cloud Forest and its volcanic Andean landscape, Ecuador boasts the most biodiverse part of the enormous Amazon rainforest, with just one of its national parks concentrating more species of birds than the whole of North America.

Animals that can be spotted include giant river otters, various species of monkeys, sloths, pink dolphins, jaguars and capybaras.

A variety of lodges provide visitors with the opportunity to visit this amazing region and include a series of guided tours throughout the jungle. All lodges are located deep within the Amazon rainforest and offer an authentic experience. Ranging from the more rustic to the luxurious and stylish, they all offer many activities such as guided jungle hikes, bird watching from jungle towers, piranha fishing and visits to local communities.
