With the world's longest mountain chain running all the way through the country, Ecuador has become famous for its collection of volcanoes, many of them still active.

Highlights of this multi-day route include the Cotopaxi National Park, the Quilotoa Crater Lake, Pujili Indigenous Markets, Banos waterfalls, the thrilling Devil's Nose Train ride and the picturesque city of Cuenca with its iconic blue domes of Cuenca cathedral. The road is generally of good condition and there is little traffic to contend with, making it an ideal route for self-driving.

Alternatively, one of the experienced local guides will drive you from place to place and provide you with some invaluable insights into the local areas and attractions. Rustic haciendas full of history and surrounded by countryside are an ideal place to overnight after a day's exploring.
