Malta has some of Europe's richest historic treasures many of which are held in places like the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Centre for Creativity at St James Cavalier.

There is plenty of culture to enjoy away from the art galleries as well.

Wherever you travel in Malta and taking a break, you can soak up the local culture whether it is watching local fisherman in traditional fishing boats hauling in their nets or farmers tilling their fields.

In this holiday you could visit the national museum of archaeology and the natural history museum to enjoy. They give a fascinating insight into Malta's early history with the earliest evidence of human settlement on Malta, being some 7,400 years old and displays of lower level geology that is more than 500,000 years old.

Military campaigns date back to the Knights of St John who launched many of their crusades against the Ottoman Turks from Malta in the sixteenth century. More recent occupants include the British who have left their most notable legacy at Admiralty House which displays a fantastic art collection and is one of Valletta's most elegant palaces.

There is also the Palace Armoury which houses one of the world's greatest arms collections and is said to be one of the most valuable historic monuments of European culture.

One of the best things about all the wonderful historic and cultural treasures of Malta is that they are never very far from you.
