Old Goa is an interesting town with at least half a dozen churches and cathedrals from the time when it was a Portuguese enclave. You can also journey north to Anjuna which is an eclectic beach settlement famous for its flea market. It also has long-term beach house renters, and great great palm tree fringed beaches.
Goa has some excellent aquatic life to observe both from the surface and beneath the waves when on holiday.
One of the nicest beaches is Palolem. It is a beautiful crescent cove in the far south of Goa is so languid and balmy that even the water has only enough energy to lap half-heartedly onto the beach. When you enter the water there is fantastic marine life and the occassional shipwreck. If you prefer staying on the surface then why not try windsurfing or spending an afternoon on a catamaran? The views can be spectacular.
You can enjoy the local culture from fresh food produce to some of the best nightlife in the world.
If you walk down by the beach you will see fishermen using offshore nets to catch some of the abundant sealife. They are famous for supplying fantastic fresh fish dishes, especially lobster to the local restaurants. A hearty meal should give you enough energy for the nightlife which is some of the best in the world. The younger crowd have been flocking to Goa for a number of years now because of the way it has embraced modern dance culture.
