Maldives Resorts
Just under 90 islands in the Maldives have been developed exclusively as resorts. But the ethos of the Maldives remains undiluted: seclusion, sun, sea, adventure and relaxation are all available for the visitor to this tropical paradise. Even counting the 202 islands inhabited by the Maldivians themselves, there are still over 800 more to discover.
The resorts themselves are designed for optimal enjoyment of the sugar-soft sands and the incredible underwater worlds that await, alongside luxurious accommodation in some of the most beautiful surroundings imaginable.
The largest number of resorts is on North Male Atoll: an idyllic setting, fringed by deserted beaches and archetypal palm trees. The Huduranfushi Island Resort – the “Island of White Gold” – for example, offers every kind of water sport, including award-winning scuba diving, as well as fine cuisine and those incredible “end of a perfect day” sunsets.
For a more isolated, relatively more uninterrupted holiday experience, the Raa Atoll - famous for its boat-building tradition – has one special resort: the Meedhupparu Island Resort. Set in 43 acres of land, Meedhupparu has everything from windsurfing to a massage at its Ayurvedic centre to excite and pamper the visitor. And it is still possible to find reefs and caves which have never explored before.
The Maldives’ resorts abroad are, indeed, tiny worlds in themselves, within the jewels of islands set in the Indian Ocean.
