Mauritius hotels are some of the highest standard in the world. Due to the size of the island the hotels are all within an hour and a half of the airport and so you can be relaxing by the pool or beach very soon after you touch down.

All the 4 and 5 star hotels in Mauritius are a very high standard and so when you are choosing your perfect hotel you are pretty much splitting hairs over the best. Here is our advice on the best places to stay in Mauritius....

If you want to stay within 30 minutes of the airport then we suggest you stay in the south at hotels such as the Shandrani, Dinarobin or Heritage. On this part of the island you are secluded about an hour away from the capital.

If you are a sun god and want the highest sunshine figures then stay in the north in places such as Legends, Bellemare plage and Paul & Virginie. The sunshine figures are marginal though as all areas of the island experience excellent weather for the vast majority of the year.

The old addage among Mauritius travel agents is that "west is best". This is mainly because of the spectacular sunsets that you can enjoy on the west coast. We would recommend hotels on the west towards the north such as Le Mauricia, Le Cannonier or the world famous Oberoi.
