Fanja is a city that is considered the gateway to the Al Dakhiliyah region as it is the first city to welcome visitors after leaving Muscat, some 25 km away. Fanja is blessed with a very rich cultural heritage and spectacular natural landscapes. Its civilization dates back 5,000 years and it still comprises many ancient buildings such as towers, castles and old houses built of mud on the mountains overlooking the wadi (dry valley). You will have time to explore this city before heading to the old Omani village of Nakhal and its impressive 17th century fort. Nakhal lies at the foothills of the mountains near an abundant source of water that irrigates the extensive date palm plantations. The final part of the tour is a visit to the Al Thowarah hot springs
