During peak hours traffic in St-Denis can be pretty intimidating for the uninitiated, especially with its intricate one-way system. The town is small enough to explore on foot and Le Barachois is a good place to leave your car.

The cars jaunes bus station is on the seafront and can be reached from Boulevard Lancastel. This is where you will arrive if you get the shuttle bus from Roland Garros International Airport The bus routes are displayed here and there are regular buses to St-Pierre, via the towns of the west coast, and to St-Benoît on the east coast. St-Denis city buses are a good way of getting around, except during rush hour. Timetables are available from the bus station or the tourist office.

Taxis are easy to find at the bus station but are expensive. Shared taxis (taxis collectifs) also depart from the bus station.
