Bahia is a beautiful state in Brazil. Situated on the coast, Bahia boasts the turquoise water of the Atlantic, as well as quiet, empty bays.

Bahia’s capital, Salvador, is often the city that steals the show due to its colonial vibe, cobbled streets, exciting festivals, impressive churches and remarkable 16th-century buildings.

There are also other areas that are worthy of acknowledgement. When in Bahia, you must visit the Coconut Coast, which is appropriately named due to the abundance of coconut groves. As well as loads of coconuts, you’ll find amazing sand dunes and magnificent rivers.

If you’re looking to get involved in some water sports, then look no further than All Saints Bay. This is the coast’s largest bay and has 56 islands.

Bahia is home to many deserted beaches, which is ideal for visitors looking for some peace and quiet. Dendê Coast is a particularly good spot for empty beaches. There are also dense rain forests to walk through and a range of floral species to observe.

Perhaps deserted beaches aren’t your cup of tea. No need to worry because Bahia has something for everyone. For the more sociable soles, Bahia has a number of surf villages, colourful towns, luxury resorts and trendy bars. You don’t have to sip your coconut water alone!

If you are visiting from July to November, head to the Whale Coast. Like the name suggests, it’s a fantastic spot for whale watching.
