Copacabana Beach, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, is known around the world for its sheer beauty. This beach is 2.2 miles long and has several bars along the stretch. Keep hydrated after swimming in the salty water with a bottle of Chopp, a Brazilian draft beer. Alternatively, drink coconut water straight from the drupe whilst lounging in the sun.

Look to the left of the beach and you’ll see the Sugar Loaf Mountain. Look to your right and you’ll see Fort Duque de Caxias. Everywhere you look there’s something gorgeous to see.

Sporty people will have a special appreciation for Copacabana beach. The shore is scattered with volleyball nets and football courts. Dive for the volleyball knowing that the soft sand will catch your fall. Show off your silky football skills as you embark on a match against the locals. There are also some training facilities if you are looking to tone up your muscles with a weights session.

There is a promenade that runs parallel to the beach, which is a great place to cycle or jog. There is a string of great restaurants and hotels to make your stay the full package. Two notable hotels are the Sofitel and the JW Marriott, which both offer comfortable and contemporary rooms. In terms of restaurants, Amir and the Haru Sushi Bar are good spots for some tasty grub. There are also many food kiosks around the beach where you can grab a quick bite.
