Osorno Volcano

Located in the Vicente Perez National Park, at 2652m, the Osorno Volcano is one of the most popular sites in the region.  The volcano is a symmetrical, glacier-covered stratovolcano in south Chile, towering above Todo los Santos and Llanquihué lakes.

This picture perfect volcano stands tall as the symbol of the Lake District. The green covered sides and snow-capped summit is the outside layer of this now dormant volcano, though much of the lower vegetation is still lacking from basalt lava damage from previous eruptions.

Now dormant, this was one of the most active volcanoes in Chiles, erupting 11 times between 1575 and 1869.

You can hike up this incredible icon and experience the stunning 360 views from the summit. Cast your eyes over the breath-taking surroundings of the impressive glacial lakes and sister volcanoes. Also take in the intriguing make up of this volcano, gazing into extinct craters, the wonderful greenery and powder snow.

It is wonderful to experience the once ferociously active volcano and appreciate how this mammoth natural beauty stands prominently against the calm surroundings of the blue lakes.
