Kerala Holidays

Be prepared for the most magical experience of your life! Kerala was voted as one of the "10 Paradises of the World" by National Geographic's Traveller Magazine. It recently became more searched for than the Taj Mahal as a top Indian holiday destination.

Commonly referred to as "God's own Country", Kerala offers a perfect escape from the grey, daily grind of urban life. Thanks to its proximity to the vaunted Arabian Sea, numerous shimmering waterways and even climate, Kerala's impressive vistas are reminiscent of those found in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings… with an Asian twist.

There are several wildlife preserves for you to explore and exotic wildlife abounds amongst the lush jungles and forests. You can get a close look at some of the imperial tigers, wildly colourful birds and gentle elephants that inhabit the area. The Periyar National Park is a popular choice. A fun option is to go on a safari by boat, and be dazzled by the lake's waters as the sun sets.

And speaking of boats, why not relax on a pleasure cruise along the Kerala canals? The vibrantly green fauna will slowly pass you by as you enjoy the local cuisine. Top it off with a nicely chilled beverage. You can then settle in for the night in the middle of a lake, lulled to sleep by the gentle rocking of the boat.

Immerse yourself in the traditions and culture of Kerala. You can attend traditional Kathakali dance performances at the Kerala Kathakali Centre. Or witness the locals collect tea leaves at the Kundale Tea Plantations amidst some of the most beautiful, sprawling environments. Make sure to try some of the tea freshly picked for you!

Take the time to appreciate the architectural splendour of the historical buildings in the region. The Mattancherry Palace features richly detailed Kerala murals of temple art and portraits of famous rajas. Or how about viewing the spectacular temple festival fireworks that are on show throughout the year?

Feeling a tad more adventurous? You can enjoy treks across the Ghat Mountains; navigate the Edakkal Caves, traverse the Meenmutty Falls or explore the temple ruins found in the region.

Away from the mountains, you can take a stroll along the coastline. Varkhala Beach is overlooked by a majestic cliff face with a palm tree enshrouded footpath running its length. It offers breath taking views of the Arabian Sea.

Or you can head down to the beach itself, voted one of the top 10 seasonal beaches in the world by the Discovery Channel. There, you can spiritually cleanse yourself by dipping in the revered natural springs at the base of the cliff.
