Tanzania Diving is a popular activity and Zanzibar, which is part of The Republic of Tanzania and is surrounded by the Indian Ocean, offers the best diving sites. Sites off the northern tip of Zanzibar provide the best diving with wreck dives and an abundance of coral.

Through the various seasons of the year you may encounter hump back whales, sperm whales and manta ray and if you haven't dived before there are certified PADI courses available from the various dive shops.

One of the best hotels for diving is the Chapwani Private Island that is located off the North West Coast of Stone Town. The island is surrounded by coves, sandy bays and as a coral island there is no better place to dive. Only 1km long and 100 metres wide the resort offers true seclusion and popular activities here include scuba diving, windsurfing and snorkeling.
