The USA is made for road trips, with stretches of sensational scenic landscapes, natural wonders, unique quaint towns and vibrant cosmopolitans.

A tour of the USA's west coast is something only dreams and films are made of. Throw back the roof and feel the wind in your hair as you cruise through that cool Pacific breeze.

Tours are really flexible and so to create the perfect one for you just fill in an enquiry form and one of our USA west coast experts will be delighted to help.

San Francisco

Shopping in Union Square, gliding over the Golden Gate Bridge, indulging in delicious food at Fisherman's Wharf or watching playful sea lions bask in the sun at Pier 39. There is plenty of charm and attraction in San Francisco for all.

Kite boarding is the latest craze and assuming you survive you can relax with the famous West Coast drive. Head off down the Big Sur, over a hundred miles of stunning craggy Pacific coastline to Hearst Castle. From there you can journey inland into the desert and the Grand Canyon. And don’t forget the gorgeous Redwood Forest in Muir Woods, San Fran really has it all.

Las Vegas

By now, the name Las Vegas alone says it all. The glitz and glamour is everything you would expect and more. The cheesy entertainers of yesterday have been shown the backdoor and now permanent theatres show world-class shows. The best singers, dancers, magicians, impressionists and cabaret acts in the world can all be found in Vegas.

Away from the theatres there are still plenty of things to do. There are brand-new thrill rides, sumptuous pool complexes with wave machines, lots of golf courses and amazing shopping from designer boutiques to out-of-town factory outlet stores. The romantic visitor can also pick up one of the 110,000 marriage licenses that are issued in Las Vegas each year…

And if you are still not satisfied then of course there a couple of casinos!

Los Angeles

From one cultural icon to another as you will head over to the City of Angels next. With the California Space Centre, Nethercutt Museum, Madame Tussauds and of course the iconic Hollywood Sign, you will be spoilt for choice. The Getty Centre is a truly spectacular museum boasting a truly impressive collection with such luminaries as Cezanne, Monet and Van Gogh to name but three. Owned and operated by the city, the Griffith Observatory is open and available to all-comers, offering utterly breath-taking views of the city and the skies.

With basketball and the world famous Los Angeles Lakers, hockey, wrestling, live music from the biggest artists and more, the Staples Centre is the west coast answer to Madison Square Gardens in New York. Downtown LA offers the contrast of a more vibrant and active night out with clubs and bars galore.

San Diego

Your final stop is the laid back and carefree San Diego. The world famous San Diego Zoo is a must, with over 3,700 animals of more than 650 species and the ever-popular Skyfari offering spectacular overhead views of the entire park. The USS Midway Museum, Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery and other smaller monuments are present-day reflections of the city’s 100+ years of military traditions.

With a reputation as being one of the nation’s craft beer capitals, there are plenty of local and regional breweries and microbreweries worth visiting to enjoy the varying flavours developed in San Diego. A superb location for diving, swimming and snorkelling, La Jolla Cove is a real natural beauty, from the staggering rock formations, to the beautiful blue oceans and the exquisite views on the horizon, a perfect end to a perfect trip.

Death Valley

Death Valley National Park is a brilliant place to experience once in a lifetime activities. There is much to see and the best way to make the most of it is by car. Here you will find the lowest point in America, named Badwater Basin. You will be 282 feet below sea level and surrounded by undrinkable water - hence the name! Come to the driest and hottest place in America with peak temperatures of 49 degrees centigrade during the summer.

Yosemite

Yosemite National Park is full of beautiful views of nature. Yosemite Valley stretches over 7 miles and is filled with granite cliffs, groves, glaciers and waterfalls. The park is designated 95% wilderness so there are lots of hidden treasures to see! There are 800 miles of trails to go on. For the keen adventurer up for a challenge, try out the John Muir Trail named after one of the founders of Yosemite National Park. The park offers a great getaway into nature and the perfect opportunity to see breath-taking scenery.

Seattle

The coastal seaport city of Seattle is the starting point for you here. The scenic Cascade Mountains and the Pacific Ocean are the frame for this modern and exciting city. Pike Place Market, the oldest of its kind in the US is an excellent start to your adventure, with tons of great stalls to browse and restaurants to eat at.

Still one of the tallest buildings in the world, the Space Needle is a must-scale with its panoramic views an absolute treat waiting at the summit. Also prominent, the Underground Tour is fascinating and unique, as you’ll traverse subterranean passages and tunnels, once the main streets of the city. History, but not as you’d expect, there are a few secrets and surprises you’ll be privy to when taking this trip.

Portland, Oregon

With the heart of the Williamette River flowing through its core, cosmopolitan Portland offers the chance to cruise leisurely through, whilst enjoying a romantic meal or an evening’s entertainment. Visit the Pearl District for a sophisticated suburb of galleries, museums, upscale business and fine dining.

Amongst the usual array of museums and such for a city of this scale, the Hoyt Arboretum is particularly worth singling out for a visit, with its vast plains, gorgeous forestry and twisting trails. The Portland Japanese Garden and Lan Su Chinese Garden both offer the most authentic experience outside of Japan and China and are the perfect end to a busy metropolitan stay before heading on the road again.

Sacramento

Californian Capital Sacramento, a first priority should be to indulge in a walk through the State Capital Gardens. Specimens of every plant native and transplanted in the state are here.

The State Capitol Building itself is worth seeing too, a great piece of architectural design. Famous Tower Bridge, Sutter’s Fort and the California State Railroad Museum offer plenty of significant and interesting attractions, some of which relating all the way back to the days of the gold rush! The city is home to several influential film and music festivals throughout the year so be sure to put in an appearance if you have timed your visit well.
