Antigua and Barbuda are well know for glorious weather. This means Antigua holidays are invariably absolutely fabulous.
Due to its tropical location close to the Equator, Antigua & Barbuda’s weather varies little between seasons. Temperatures are in the mid 70s in the winter to high 80s in summer. With cooling breezes year round it is a compelling proposition for any holidaymaker. Combine this wonderful balmy weather with rugged coastlines, hidden bays, beautiful coral reefs, no less than 365 white sand beaches, a huge choice of leisure and sports activities - plus a rich historical heritage - and a holiday in Antigua and Barbuda can be the holiday of a lifetime.
The annual rainfall averages only 45 inches, making it the sunniest of the Eastern Caribbean islands. A particular attraction in terms of the Antiguan weather is the low humidity – the humidity that intensifies tropical heat - so that, here, all but the hottest days remain comfortable.
The coasts of Antigua are ideal for yacht cruising and racing - thanks to the constant trade winds. With many harbours available for exploration, you could easily spend a week or two cruising around this picturesque Caribbean island, while Antigua’s sister island of Barbuda has shell-laden sandy beaches that are so long that they dip below the horizon.
Most of the rain falls in brief spells between July and October, but rarely for long, seldom over consecutive days and always refreshing. And, like most Caribbean islands, Antigua weather includes a near constant dose of the cooling trade winds that blow southeast to northwest off the water, flagging only at times in September. Shore-side terraces are a common feature of most restaurants on the island - an ideal way to enjoy this element of Antiguan weather.
