Cape Town was described by Sir Francis Drake as "The most stately thing, the fairest Cape we saw in the whole circumference of the Earth".

Few visitors will disagree as the Atlantic meets the Indian Ocean with table mountain as a dramatic backdrop.

Taking the cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain is stunning at the best of times, but at sunset it is just spectacular. The journey to the top of the 1000 metre high plateau with the evening sun glistening across the distant Atlantic Ocean is amazing.

There are so many activities and aventures on offer. For example you can engage in probably the most adreneline fuelled experience in the world.

Feeding sharks from the boat will get your heart pumping but it increases threefold if you want to feed them from a shark proof cage in the water. It provides an amazing holiday story for friends back home!

Don't worry there are more gentle inhabitants in the water as well. Whales, like the beautiful Southern Right Whales tend to congreate not far offshore from Cape Town. Just jump aboard a small hire boat and your captain will skilfully manoeuvre you in and out of these playful giants to provide a magical day out.

The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Safari is worth visiting for the amazing variety of flora and fauna. There are some cheeky residents as well to keep you entertained such as the Chacma Baboons.

If you would like to explore the surrounding areas then driving into the Stellenbosch region is highly recommended as well. Not least because it produces much of South Africa's fine wines! You can visit some of the wine estates and then take lunch in French influenced villages such as Franschoek.
