The Matemwe Bungalows are boutique and luxurious. They are located on the northeast coast of Zanzibar on a dramatic coral cliff top location. They overlook a powder white beach with an amazing coral reef just offshore.

There are just 14 bungalows at Matemwe so your holiday is not going to be crowded with other tourists. Each room has a thatched roof and sea facing verandas. They are very well furnished with a local feel using materials such as palm matting, beautiful Swahili fabrics & driftwood ornaments.

There is a beautiful open-air restaurant which neighbours the ocean and offers breathtaking views. You will find that the seafood is a highlight bought daily from local fisherman.

There are light buffet lunches again using fresh produce. There are African and European influences throughout. In the evening dinner offers plenty of choice with stunning fish, meat and vegetarian options. Afterwards you can relax in the restaurant's gorgeous lounge area.

Although there was a double booking at Matemwe therefore we did not get a suite despite booking and paying for it months in advance. The hotel still owe us a refund on the difference which we are still waiting for over two weeks later. They were very apologetic and provided excellent service and we would love to go back there despite the mix-up. The ambience of the place suited us perfectly. Dive masters were very good, and the safari blue trip was fabulous. Food was excellent, service excellent. Again loved it despite the mix up and can't wait to go back.

Is my booking protected?
Yes – If you book flights and hotels with us then you are fully protected under the ATOL scheme. If you buy hotels without flights then ATOL does not apply (as ATOL only applies to package holidays) but we take out supplier failure insurance on your behalf in case any of the travel providers go bust.
How many years have you been trading?

What payment terms do you have?
You pay a deposit of 10% or £150 per person (whichever is more) at the time of booking and then your balance 14 weeks before departure.
