You can choose from staying in anything from tented camps to luxury lodges. You can even be tented on the roofs of special land rovers if you want to sleep in a different location each night.

Most people say that the most exilerating part is being able to go on safari on foot. Walking allows you to get so close to the animals that you can smell them (not always a good thing!). Local guides are very informative and really add to the whole experience with their snippets of extensive local knowledge.

A few days down by the beach looking out over the Indian Ocean is a great experience. It can either help recharge your batteries before engaging in energetic safaris or can help you unwind at the end of your holiday. It doesn''t have to be too relaxing though as there is some exciting deep sea fishing just off the coast.

Only in Kenya can you spend one day cooped up in a hide, bird watching and then the next day find yourself white water rafting down the Tana River. There are probably a lot less dangerous ways to stay cool in the sun but not many are as fun!
