In 1990, hotels in Mauritius became members of The Leading Hotels of the World and the Royal Palm Hotel is widely regarded as the best address in the Indian Ocean. Each of its 87 Suites enjoys views of the crystal waters of Grande Baie with its own private terrace or balcony in total privacy. There are 57 sea-facing Junior suites are slightly larger, with décor offering touches from India and Asia. The luxurious bathrooms include marble basin tops with large mirrors, spacious shower, separate bathtub and walk-in dressing room.

Four Tropical Suites are on the first floor and furnished with colonial antiques. They feature stunning beach views and their own stairway giving direct access to the beach. Seven Palm Suites are larger but similar in design, only on the ground floor level; they have an additional sitting room area.

Senior and Penthouse Suites raise the luxury bar even higher, while, the prestigious Presidential Suites on the top floor have spectacular views over the Indian Ocean from their spacious terraces - perfect for two couples travelling together or families. But the ultimate space at the Royal Palm is the two-storey Royal Suite: in addition to three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a living room, it offers a private garden, magnificent terrace and private pool.

There are three outstanding restaurants, including La Goelette for Creole and international dishes and the Natureaty for a lighter, but more intimate touch, all overlooking the ocean.
