Barbados is a perfect place to learn to scuba dive thanks to its crystal clear, warm waters and an abundance of dive sites and wrecks. This is an opportunity to spend 2-3 hours doing a Discover SCUBA course, aimed solely at beginners aged 10 years and over. The staff at the dive centre have a minimum 15 years’ experience. You will be transported to the dive shop located in Carlisle Bay near Bridgetown in the south of the island. After you are fitted with the basic SCUBA equipment your instructor will give you a basic orientation on the use of the equipment and proper diving procedures. You will then be ready for your introduction to SCUBA, which will be conducted in a pool/confined water environment so you can get the feel for the equipment and make sure you are comfortable doing your skills. Then you will be taken on a shallow pleasure dive (40ft for 35 – 40 minutes) in a bay area where there are six wrecks sunk between 1919 and 2002. Once you have done the Discover SCUBA Course you can do other shallow dives if you wish. Note: You should be in good overall health, especially your respiratory and circulatory systems.
