Beautiful setting

Stay at the Shangri La Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa which is a deluxe hotel in a superb location. With a stunning setting and beautiful coral islands nearby a holiday to Tanjung Aru comes highly recommended.

Tropical coral islands

The hotel is located at the waters edge, which makes access to the beautiful beach convenient and very easy. Tanjung Aru overlooks five tropical coral islands where you can relax on lovely white sand, snorkel or scuba dive in clear waters with brightly coloured fish and corals.

Superb facilities

The Tanjung Aru has a fine selection of onsite facilities to enjoy. There are swimming pools, fitness centre, jacuzzi and sauna, floodlit tennis courts, as well as golf courses close to the hotel. A superb watersports centre offers windsurfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, waterskiing and game fishing. It's pure indulgence for those who have to visit another country for their thrills!

Romantic evenings

After dark the mood is romantic and relaxed. You will enjoy a choice of bars and restaurants in which to while away the evening planning how best to spend the next day of your holiday in this truly exotic, luxury destination.

We stayed in the Shangri-La in Kuala Lumpur (I was not able to rate three places) and that was fantastic but unfortunately the Shangri-La at Tanjung was dated and tired and extremely busy. They were also doing renovations in some parts which was a little disruptive. The Shangri-La in KL had also upgraded us due to our repeat custom but the Shangri-La in Borneo was not interested in that at all. We paid to access the Club Lounge on a couple of days which was well worth it - breakfast away from the crowds and lovely canapes and drinks in the early evening. I am sure it will become a nice hotel once all the work is done but I think it will take a while as even the rooms are rather tired and dated which did not appear to be on the agenda for renovation. The staff were lovely though.
