The Maldives is made up of over 1,100 idyllic islands known as atolls. Each atoll has its own character – some are casual and simple, offering little distraction from topping up the tan, while others are more sophisticated, featuring a choice of restaurants and bars, numerous categories of accommodation and a wide array of recreational facilities. We have selected five atolls that between them, offer islands of total relaxation, a scuba divers’ paradise or a stylish retreat. Please read the resort descriptions carefully to decide which atoll is best suited to your requirements and budget.

CHOICE OF ACCOMMODATION
Most of our island accommodation offers a choice of room type. Lead-in room categories are usually set near the centre of the island and enjoy pretty garden views. Deluxe rooms are often located closer to the waters edge and many resorts also offer a choice of water villas or bungalows built on stilts over the crystal clear ocean. We feature the supplements for most room types under each resort description but due to space constraints we often cannot list all of them. Please enquire at the time of booking.

BOARD BASIS
The board basis of our featured hotels differs depending on where you stay. Most islands offer half board, full board or all inclusive packages but again the inclusions differ from resort to resort. As much of the food served in the Maldives is imported it can be expensive. It is often very cost effective to take advantage of these packages. Please see under each hotel description for the applicable inclusions.
